These days, I’m deep in the writing trenches. Too many projects pile up, and while that’s a blessing, the relentless hunger to finish just one more gnaws at me. It’s like being a dysfunctional machine—always churning, always producing, but breaking down in those rare moments of reflection. In those moments, I find myself questioning everything: my projects, my process, and why I even attempt this madness.
But that machine doesn’t stop. It pushes forward, and so do I.
Right now, my focus is on revisiting my previous novel. Yes, I have another one, but it lived a short life on Kindle Vella, and I never quite loved it. With Vella shutting down next month, I have a chance to rewrite it, to make it the story I always wanted it to be. Heavy rewrites are underway, and I want it to shine when it’s released again.
It’s Sunday, and the clock ticks steadily toward Monday. I feel that familiar anxiety creeping in—the longing for more time, more weekend, more hours to write. But then, I remind myself that even after work tomorrow, I’ll still be back at my desk, working on these projects. The machine will keep churning, regardless of the day of the week.
“Gotta stay busy, gotta get where I’m going, gotta, gotta, gotta,” like a relentless choo-choo train. My doctor calls it ADHD. I call it my slight insanity. Either way, it keeps me moving.
What drives you forward? What keeps your machine churning?
