The Day Scrivener Betrayed Me

There was a time when Scrivener was my most trusted writing companion—until the day it wasn’t. One moment, I was deep in the worlds I’d built, and the next, my files were gone, erased in a glitch that left me staring at the void where my stories used to live. Only the unsynced files survived, a cruel reminder of what I’d lost. Ever since, I’ve been scarred by the experience, unable to trust Scrivener or Dropbox to safeguard my work. Now, I save my files in the most chaotic way imaginable—several copies scattered across devices and drives—just to avoid reliving that nightmare. It’s maddening, juggling backups for so many projects, and though the redundancy helps, I long for the peace of mind I once had. What caused the deletion? I still have no idea, but the betrayal lingers, shaping how I approach every sentence I write. Something has to give!
